This past weekend marked the final NFL Sunday of regular season and the first NFL Sunday of 2021.
Unfortunately, one major sportsbook was stuck on the sidelines, causing many bettors to lose out on the action.
@Tillett26 @FanDuelSupport yesterday's outage was unacceptable. Thats two major service issues I had this weekend with fanduel. One sportsbook and one casino glitch, and have not received a response for my tickets submitted. Will not be recommending 2021-01-25 19:18:25 @Burner12171131. The latest tweets from @fanduel.
FanDuel customers miss out on NFL Sunday betting
Sports betting giant FanDuel suffered outages at one of the worst possible times on Sunday.
Customers initially discovered glitches around 12:30 pm ET, reporting issues logging in and accessing FanDuel's app and website altogether.
Users subsequently noted problems when cashing out bets. Many also received notifications saying the site would be undergoing planned maintenance for roughly six hours.
Problems were resolved for most customers by 2:40 pm, but that over two-hour window left many eager football fans disgruntled.
This has been resolved. All customers should now be able to successfully access the Sportsbook as normal. Thanks again for everyone's patience today! https://t.co/jxr1aep5SF

One day later, Tennesseans still had a particularly difficult time placing bets on FanDuel.
If you are a customer in Tennessee and are experiencing difficulties accessing the Sportsbook app please uninstall and reinstall the app before trying again. If you are still experiencing difficulty after doing so please let us know!

Support tried its best to resolve all issues in a timely manor, but the FanDuel outage left many customers frustrated.
Action 24/7 capitalizes on FanDuel's loss
Casino no gamstop. Fellow Tennessee sportsbook Action 24/7 got word of FanDuel's struggle, uncovering a perfect opportunity for its own customer acquisition.
Action 24/7 welcomed users with a fully functioning platform and a $6 free bet to all customers.

This isn't the first time Action 24/7 has taken to social media to deliver jabs to its competitors, and it certainly won't be the last.
The new sportsbook is trying to make its presence known in the Volunteer state, and took advantage of this opportunity to do so.
FanDuel's outage issues jeopardize customer loyalty
This isn't the first time FanDuel customers have endured interruptions. Most recently, issues occurred on a Sunday in October when the sportsbook's stat provider experienced a 'major service disruption'.
The cause of the outage remains unknown and the company is still investigating.
In order to remedy the outage in October, FanDuel customer support announced it would credit affected customers 50% of their losses up to $100. FanDuel also offered customers a free voucher into one of its Sunday Million contests.
Just like last time, users are not happy and are seeking good-will gestures to remedy the latest NFL Sunday disruption. Slip-ups like these could ultimately result in a shift in market dominance if not handled correctly.
Could FanDuel's lost footing provide the perfect opportunity for an underdog to begin closing the gap? Or will its commitment to customer loyalty make this an issue soon forgotten?
FanDuel stopped working on the day where it's used the most. On Sunday afternoon, there were nearly 3,000 reports of the daily fantasy sports and online sportsbook site being down. The company's customer support Twitter account announced the stat provider was down and were working on the issue.
'Our stat provider is currently experiencing a major service disruption,' FD Customer Support wrote on Twitter. 'This may result in delays to in-game live scoring, however all stats will be updated prior to settlement of contests. We apologize for any inconvenience!' On Sunday night, FD Customer Support announced it has found the problem and thanked everyone for their patience.
'We appreciate everyone's continued patience during our stats provider's Live Scoring outages this weekend,' the tweet read. 'They have identified the cause and are working diligently to restore service. We recognize the importance of live scoring to the DFS experience.' FanDuel was founded in 2009 and fans used the site to play daily fantasy games so they can win money. The site also allows sports betting in the states where sports gambling is legal. There are millions of FanDuel users, which meant there were a lot of unhappy people on Sunday, which had a full slate of NFL games, the start of the American League Championship Series in baseball and Game 6 of the NBA Finals.
Following resolution of these issues (expected Mon 10/12), We will credit a 50% net lossback across impacted slates (where net losses above $10; paid as site credit; max $100 credit). Any user not credited under the lossback will receive a voucher to next week's Sunday Million.

— AntiBreakNate (@Mdnate) October 12, 2020Our stats provider is still experiencing a major service disruption. We are working with them to have all player's scores available and finalized as soon as possible. We will provide any updates here as they happen, and once again appreciate everyone's patience.

@FanDuel_Support how is Yahoo, ESPN, AND NFL live scoring still up but y'all's stat provider still down? Now would be a good time to switch providers or procure a backup, sheesh. Now it's smelling like a hack.
— Jon 🤘🏿🧢 (@JonPCole) October 12, 2020Haven't played on @FanDuel in a long time (- free money they give me). Yday's handling of events is just reinforcement of that decision.
BUT if you keep playing there, they'll keep making poor decisions bc you've proved to them that they can treat you like💩& you'll stay.

Big power flex by FanDuel. Showing us just how weak we really are. #FanDuel#FanDuelDown
— Ricky Bias (@rickyb8782) October 12, 2020You've got to be kidding me. How us it still down? When sleepers stats were screwed up in week 1, they got that shit fixed in two hours tops. On top of that you're screwing everyone out of their money. You just lost a lot of customers and that's your fault. No customer service.
